WHO IS VIVIENNE

- qualified and was admitted as a Solicitor in Gauteng (formerly Johannesburg) in 1981.
- returned to academic life and was a Senior Law Lecturer in South Africa at the University of the Witwatersrand, Gauteng (formerly Johannesburg) for some 11 years. She specialized in Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation), always a keen interest of hers. Vivienne contributed several academic articles (under her maiden name) in these two areas of interest to recognised academic journals on these subjects.
- witnessing the public dissatisfaction with the lengthy, costly and emotionally draining legal process, she decided to venture into and specialize in the field of family mediation.
- trained in South Africa as a family and divorce mediator and had the privilege of attending workshops run by John Haynes, a world-renowned American mediator as well as Lisa Parkinson and Stephen Brown, family mediators renowned in the United Kingdom.
- Practised as a Family and Divorce Mediator, both privately and as a representative of an organization called The Divorce and Mediation Centre
- trained candidate family and divorce mediators in general principles of mediation, as well as the theory and practice of family and divorce mediation
- instructed candidate family and divorce mediators on general principles of the Law of Marriage and Divorce in South Africa
- In 1994 was the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the South African Association of Mediators (SAAM), as well as the Editor of the SAAM Newsletter, and on the Executive Committee of SAAM in 1996.
- emigrated to Perth, Western Australia from South Africa with her husband, also a family law Solicitor, and two children in 1998.
- studied bridging units at Murdoch University to convert her law degree according to standards set by the Law Society of Western Australia, completed Articles of Clerkship, and was admitted to practise as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in May 2004.
- has worked as a Family Law Solicitor as well as a Family and Divorce Mediator in Perth, Western Australia.
- is a Nationally Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Provider. Her details are included on the Family Dispute Resolution Register, and her contact and access information is also available to the public through Family Relationships Online.
- is eligible to issue and provide certificates under Section 60I of the Family Law Act 1975 (Clth)
